Dumas, Joseph (b. )Note: !Margaret Dumas Recore's death certificate said Joseph was born
in Burke, NY.
From Doug Barton's web site: http://d21c.com/OU812/emaillinks.html: is a picture of Joseph Dumas: "The original now belongs to my son, Matt. On the back it says: "Joseph Dumas of Huntingdon, Quebec, who lived to be 106 years old. Picture acquired (by Leonard Dumas) from Buddy Flynn in 1971." Now it looks like Mose Dumas gave it to his daughter, Laura Dumas Crippen, who in turn gave it to her daughter, Carolyne "Buddy" Flynn, who is Anne Phillips' mother. I don't believe there is a way to absolutely authenticate this photo. I'm willing to accept it on faith, and label it "believed to be Joseph Dumas, father of Mose Dumas."
St Patrick's in Chateaugay NY has marraige of Maria Dumas, daughter of Joseph and Rosalia Fontaine Dumas, on Sept 11, 1870 to Elie Ricard; witnesses listed Maria Ricard and Rosa Fontaine. This Rosalia Fontaine may be Joseph's second wife, Rose Mason.

trade there. He came to Ogdensburg in 1866. He was actively engaged in
contracting, building and erecting many of Ogdenbsurg's finest
edifices, including the City Hall and Opera House. The personal sketch

COMMENTS
Antoine, along with brothers Charles and Edward all served with the 40th
Company, National Guard, during the Spanish-American War. Although they were
away from home for a year, their company never saw any action.

Note: Mary was a very accomplished sopramo vocalist.
!Mary was married to William Kinch on June 28, 1905.
Dec. 4, 1934 Advance News: Mrs. Mary Margaret Paquette Kinch, 57, wife of William J. Kinch, died suddenly at the family home, 1007 New York Ave. Sunday evening at 7:30. She suffered a cerebral hemmorrage at 5:30 p.m. A physician was called but she succumbed without regaining consciousness. Mrs. Kinch's brother, Antoine A. Paquette, died last Friday at the Hepburn hospital and the remains were taken to her home. His funeral was held yesterday morning from the house at 8:30 and a half-hour later at St. Mary's cathedral. Burial was in St. Mary's cemetery.
Mrs. Kinch was born in Ogdensburg, July 2, 1877, the daughter of the late Antoine and Margaret Fogarty Paquete. She was a graduate of St. Mary's academy. Mrs. Kinch was a gifted singer and prominent in musical affairs of this city. She was soprano soloist at St. Mary's cathedral until a few years ago, when ill health caused her to retire from musical work.
Mrs. Kinch is survived by her husband, a former alderman of the city; four children, William, Margaret, Joseph and John; a granddaughter, Mary Kinch, and the following brothers, Michael T., Edward and James Paquette of Ogdensburg and Charles Paquette of Syracuse.
The funeral will be held at the cathedral Wednesday morning at 3, with interment in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Mr. Kinch and the members of his family will receive the deep sympathy of all in the death of a devoted wife and mother, a kind and sympathetic neighbor and friend. Mrs. Kinch was generally considered one of the most accomplished singers this city has ever produced. Her beautiful soprano voice was heard on many occasions outside of church work and she gave generously of her talents at entertainments, concerts and other public affairs. Had she chosen a public career in music it is believed she would have become one of the country's famed vocalists.
Her voice combined wide range, volume and remarkable purity of tone and she sang the most difficult arias without apparent effort. As soloist in the cathedral she rendered the compositions of the great masters with rare effect and her singing was always a delightful feature of special festival in the church. Mrs. Kinch's unfailing courtesy, affability and cheerful disposition made ner a general favorite not only in social circles but among everyone who knew her.
