William H. LaPorte, Sr., 71, of Plattsburgh, died Monday, Jan. 30, 1995, at the CVPH Medical Center.

He was born in Standish, Dec. 24, 1923, the son of Frank and Irene (Clark) LaPorte.

He was a member of our Lady of Victory Church in Plattsburgh. He had worked at the Lyon Mountain Mines and for Bushey and Sons in Plattsburgh, and was an avid hunter.

Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, William and Catherine LaPorte, Jr., of Plattsburgh and Thomas LaPorte of Plattsburgh; two daughters and a son-in-law, Susan and Carl Sylvester of Plattsburgh and Debra Heller of West Chazy; a brother and a sister-in-law, Michael and Violet LaPorte of Plattsburgh; four sisters and three brothers-in-laws, Margaret and Bernard Reome of Morrisonville, Violet and Larry Rivers of Schuyler Falls, Brenda and Harry Provost of Cadyville and Arettia Fisher of Orange, Mass.; eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

His wife, the former Margret Duell, died in 1981, and five grandchildren died previously.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Victory Church in Plattsburgh.
