Arthur Bracey, 69, of Chateaugay, died of internal injuries Sunday night at the Alice Hyde Hospital; an autopsy performed yesterday revealed.
Bracey was injured when he was struck by a car on Route 37, two and one-half miles south of Chateaugay Saturday evening.
He was struck by a car owned and operated by Emerson J. LaPlante, 21, of Chateaugay. He told state police, who investigated that he was passing a parked car when the figure of Bracey dressed in dark clothing, loomed up in front of him. The driver of the car told state police he did not see the victim until it was too late to avoid hitting him.
The victim also suffered a fractured right leg, dislocated left knee and severe head injuries.
Franklin County Coroner A. Pierre Spaulding investigated and named Dr. William Gaspar coroner's physican. The autopsy was performed by Dr. William Shannon, pathologist from Cornwell, Ontario.
Mr. Bracey was a life resident of the Chateaugay area and had worked as a farm laborer. He was retired. His parents were Levi and Jannie Perham Bracey. His wife, the former Lucy Judware, died several years ago. There are no known immediate survivors.
He is in repose at the Chateaugay Funeral Home until time for funeral services tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church.
