Alfred B. Downer, Sr., 64, of 16 Wheeler Ave., died Monday, June 19, 1995, at the Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital Medical Center in Plattsburgh, he had been a patient since June 18.
Born in Bellmont, Nov. 11, 1930, he was the son of William and Bessie Marshall Downer. His parents predeceased him.
He attended local schools.
Mr. Downer served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged.
He was married to Corrine Lamica. She survives.
He worked at Portec in Troy. He then worked for the Stone Quarry in Burke. He then worked for Goldbergs Scrap Yard in Malone and then for the Chateaugay Cheese Plant in Chateaugay.
Besides his wife of Ogdensburg, surviving are two sons, Alfred Downer, Jr., and Robert Downer, both of Burke; four brothers, Ernest Downer of Rennesselaer Falls, Maynard and Roderick Downer, both of Malone, and Marvin Downer of Troy; seven sisters, Mrs. Bethel Snyder of North Lawrence, Mrs. Joanne Phillips, Mrs. Beulah Putraw, Mrs. Howard (Shirley) Potter and Mrs. Cleveland (Loda) Lamica, all of Malone, Mrs. Robert (Ida) Leonard of Holyoke, Mass., and Mrs. Everette (Sandra) Pecore of Constable; a step-sister, Mrs. Robert (Gwendolyn) Rich of Malone; and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Downer was predeceased by five brothers, Clifford, Michael, Foster, Herman, and Arnold Downer; three sisters, Mrs. Gwendolyn Lyman, Mrs. Rena Reome and Miss Violet Downer; and a grandchild.
Funeral services will be held in the Bruso-Desnoyers funeral home Wednesday at 10 a.m. with Rev. George Chasney officiating.
