Raymond H. Snyder, 53, of South Wood Road, Brushton, died Wednesday, April 14, 1999, at the Alice Hyde Hospital, Malone.

Born, Aug. 4, 1945, in Malone, he was the son of Raymond and Bethel Downer Synder.

He attended schools in Brushton and earned his GED in 1986.

In his younger years, he worked in Southbridge, Mass. and was a security guard for Hanna Security.

On November 4, 1967, he married Joanne Lamica in St. John Bosco Church, Malone. She survives.

He and his wife returned to Brushton in 1979 and started his own auto repair business and also worked as a mechanic for Peanut Auto Sales in Constable. He retired in 1988 due to ill health.

Besides his wife, and mother of Nicholville, surviving are four sons and a daughter-in-law, Raymond P. and Amy Snyder of Westville, Timothy Snyder of Dickinson, Daniel and Donald Snyder both of Malone; three daughters and a son-in-law, Bonnie and Clifford Rafter of Brasher Falls, Nancy Hewitt of Brushton and Carey Snyder of Malone; 13 grandchildren; seven brothers, Roger and Paul Snyder both of North Lawrence, Dennis and Harold Snyder both of Nicholville, Royal and William Snyder, both of Dickinson and Alfred Snyder of Bangor; seven sisters, Denise Prue of Maine, Alice Gibson of Nicholville, Florence Baker of Malone, Bethel Snyder of Chateaugay, Becky Snyder of Massena, Judy Snyder of Ormstown, Quebec, Canada, and Donna Snyder of Niagra Falls, NY; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, in the St. Mary-Murphy Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Alfred Fish presiding.
